Job summary

We are looking for a dedicated and dynamic Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional to join our Orthopaedic team in a key coordinating role. This exciting opportunity will see you supporting Trauma Services and playing a crucial part in patient pathways for both inpatients and outpatients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting surgical site surveillance information

  • Overseeing the National Hip Fracture Database

  • Assisting the on-call surgeon during morning Trauma meetings

  • Participating in ward rounds and new addition fracture clinics daily

  • Collaborating closely with clinicians and the entire orthopaedic team

Job responsibilities

To support the consultant teams to ensure delivery of safe and quality care to enable the patients to be supported throughout the trauma care pathway

To work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team involved in management of the orthopaedic trauma pathway

Act as initial point of contact for patients entered onto the trauma pathway

Responsible for input on data into the National Hip Fracture database

Support the collection and input of data for surgical site surveillance (SSI) for orthopaedics and provide clinical nursing oversight for surgical site surveillance data within General Surgery.

In collaboration with the clinical teams, develop and monitor completion of action plans linked to outcomes from surgical site surveillance submissions.

To work as an RN/ AHP Registered Professional ensuring the delivery of holistic patient centred care and excellent standards of care.

To communicate effectively at all times within the multidisciplinary team, key stakeholders and with patients, carers and family

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to work flexibly and manage databases.

Relevant clinical experience and knowledge of patient pathways and working procedures in a relevant health setting will be required.
