An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to enhance our forward-thinking teams on Level C, Alverstone and Luccombe as the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.
We are looking for someone who is well organised with a professional and approachable manner and that has excellent communication skills.You should be able to use your own judgement to resolve issues, have a tactful, sensitive approach to people and have excellent team working skills. You need to be able to perform well under pressure with a flexible approach to your shift pattern as it will include a mixture of days and nights alongside the other deputy sisters/charge nurses.
You will be committed to going the extra mile and passionate about ensuring high standards of care are delivered to our service users.
The post involves working with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams across both wards and you will need to be organised, dynamic and able to prioritise your workload and lead junior members of the team. You will also be required to deputise for the ward sisters in their absence.
Individuals applying for this post will be responsible and accountable for leading the team when on shift and for providing an excellent standard of individualised patient centered care. Support and supervision of Health Care Assistants and Student Nurses is also a requirement of this post. A mentorship qualification would be advantageous.

As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will be accountable to and expected to provide support to the Ward Manager in St Helens. You will be expected to deputise for the Ward Manager when they are on leave, and to provide Nurse in Charge cover across the week, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
As part of this development opportunity, you will have responsibility for a given number of staff for appraisals, attendance management and training. There will be an expectation that you will also learn to support with Health roster, Datix and the completion of Audits. We also work very closely with the MDT team, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and the Integrated Discharge Team.
The successful applicant will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills. They must be able to work under pressure and be able to manage their time effectively.
To support your development the successful applicant will be offered development support and appropriate training to enhance the skills needed for the role.
