This is an exciting time for the Isle of Wight Ophthalmology department as we are undergoing a transformation in line with the elective recovery program and Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT). We have been reviewing our services and exploring new opportunities in the ways we can deliver our emergency, outpatient and elective pathways and we are looking for an enthusiastic Ophthalmic Practitioner/Nurse to join this gold standard, committed team.

The overall job purpose of the ophthalmic deputy Sister is to support the Ophthalmology Lead Nurse in providing expert clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multidisciplinary team. This includes acting as a support to the expert clinical leader liaising, guiding, and advising the multidisciplinary team in the provision of optimum patient care/ experience in the absence of the Band 7.
This will require you to work with the team in the development and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring that key performance indicators, quality, and safety standards relevant to the service are delivered.
Our service consists of a gold standard and dedicates multi-disciplinary team supporting our local population through a range of condition specific outpatients clinics, ophthalmic emergencies, Intravitreal injections and minor procedures, daily elective surgery in our newly built designated theatre, and developing our cataract service to meet GIRFT recommendations.
