The Clinical Nutrition Nurse Specialist supports patients on the Isle of Wight with issues related to nutritional nursing assessment, the management of enteral feeding and management of inpatient parenteral nutrition as part of a MDT.

Provide a seamless enteral feeding access service across primary and secondary care, working closely with colleagues in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation (HIOW) Trust.

Nurse led service to inpatient wards for enteral feeding access, planned weekly home enteral nutrition (HEN) clinic for outpatients and provide support to the emergency department and community colleagues to avoid acute admission

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Evidence of post-registration study in specialised area.
  • Knowledge of national guidelines and best practice related to nutrition.
  • Competent in gastrostomy assessment.
  • Competent in the insertion of a range of enteral feeding tubes.

Physical Skills
