Job summary

Our Cleanliness staff played an essential role in fighting the global pandemic and are responsible for cleaning all areas of the hospital site.

There are two vacancies - one 30 hours per week and one 15 hours per week, working a weekly alternate shift pattern as follows:-

Alternate weeks:-

Vacancy 1 (30 hours per week)

23.00 to 07.00 (30 minute unpaid break) Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday

Vacancy 1 (30 hours per week)

23.00 to 07.00 (30 minute unpaid break) Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday

Vacancy 2 (15 hours per week)

23.00 to 07.00 (30 minute unpaid break) Saturday & Sunday

Vacancy 2 (15 hours per week)

23.00 to 07.00 (30 minute unpaid break) Friday & Saturday

Main duties of the job

The key Purpose of the role is to provide a high quality comprehensive cleanliness service, working to exceptionally high documented cleaning standards. The post holder will be responsible for supervision, support and training of new and existing Cleanliness Assistant staff, ensuring the hospital is cleaned to the mandatory National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021.

The post holder will be expected to support effective service delivery by making immediate proactive decisions in adjusting rotas when unexpected staff absences occur on a nightly basis, by allocating work to ensure all areas are cleaned to expected standards.

To carry out inspection of cleanliness work and to continuously monitor all staff and cleanliness standards in the work environment, to ensure correct methods and procedures are being consistently achieved and maintained.

To act as a role model to the Cleanliness Team and to promote and demonstrate effective communication at all times.

Having the ability to work under pressure due to limited resources on occasion and increasing demands, as and when needs dictate.

Job responsibilities

Using agreed rotas and in liaison with the Site Coordinator Team, ensure all areas and requested cleans are completed in priority order, utilising available staff to best effect. To work with the night team to ensure all corridors and public areas are cleaned effectively overnight ready to the next day. To be able to autonomously problem solve and offer support to staff during the night

To work alongside all service users and ensure that approved documented cleaning standards and frequencies are maintained at all times. Being prepared to work in any area across the Trust site.

To act as soon as possible in response to any request for Barrier Cleans. To carry out Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour and Ultra Violet Light in the C Spectrum decontaminations on request (following approved training)

Completion of all relevant documentation, including cleanliness checks and monitoring.

Responsible for ensuring cleaning equipment and materials are properly used and kept spotlessly clean at all times.

In liaison with the Operational Cleaning Manager, ensure that staff have the optimum levels of cleaning materials available together with safe working cleaning equipment.

To carry out return to work interviews and annual appraisals with Cleanliness Assistant staff following sickness absences.

Responsible for handing out staff information handouts, memos, timesheets or any other form of communication intended for the Cleanliness Support Team together with ensuring required documents are fully completed by staff and collected in for record keeping.

Any other duties and responsibilities determined by the Operational Cleaning Manager, within the parameters of the post.

  • BICSc or NVQ or relevant experience in cleaning and supervision
