Job summary

We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great place".

Job responsibilities

Undertake basic distribution duties under the direction of the Lead or Senior technician in pharmacy stores.

Pack and top-up ward areas and clinics using the automated dispensing cabinet software and top-up folders on designated days.

Ensure good stock rotation and undertake regular date checking within the department.

Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries and requests appropriately, referring calls and taking messages whilst ensuring strict confidentiality.

Undertake any other tasks requested by the Lead technician or their deputy, following strict SOPs.

Complete daily stock takes and highlighting stock discrepancies to the lead or senior technician to be rectified promptly.

To have a good understanding and be able to maintain automated dispensing cabinets to ensure good stock levels are maintained.

  • Commitment to undertake in-house training to achieving NVQ 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services within agreed timescale.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Knowledge of JAC computer system (desirable only)
  • Experience in a Hospital or Community Pharmacy (desirable only)
