We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hard-working Technician with excellent communication skills, manual dexterity, and hand/ eye co-ordination to join our well-established team providing a modern medical device decontamination service on the Isle of Wight.
Main duties of the job
The post will lead to full participation in all aspects of the washing, disinfection, inspection/packing and sterilization process of equipment and surgical instruments.
Previous experience in HSDU, operating theatre, or clean room environments is desirable, but not essential, as on-site training will be given, leading to full participation in the team within one year
The successful candidate will be expected to train for Healthcare Science Apprenticeship/ level 3 IDSc Technical Certificate in decontamination within their personal development plan, and complete E-Learning/ mandatory training courses.
Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to work within defined protocols but also have the ability to use your own initiative if required are essential.
From commencement of the level 3 Technical Certificate, the successful applicant will be required to sit an exam within 2 years.
On completion and success of gaining the level 3 qualification and all in- house training the post will advance to Band 3.
This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week working a shift rota system including weekends, and after relevant training participation in on-call duties.
Shift hours are subject to change depending on the needs of the service.
After relevant training participation in on-call duties is essential, this includes Bank Holidays.

- Educated to GCSE Grade C/4 or above/ NVQ 2 or equivalent level of knowledge in Maths, English and Science
