Job summary
We are recruiting a Palliative Care Clinical Pharmacist who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS who also provide Pharmacy services to Mountbatten Hospice. The single island-wide palliative care service is highly innovative, delivering complex pharmacotherapy to patients in the hospital, hospice and the wider community. Thus, this provides unique opportunities for a Pharmacist interested in symptom relief to work closely with medical and nursing colleagues to continue to lead innovative approaches to pharmacotherapy and service delivery.
Those with passion and enthusiasm, but insufficient experience for an 8a role, are still strongly encouraged to apply to discuss a progression plan, with the potential for a period of supervision and support from an experienced palliative care pharmacist.
For applicants seeking a full-time contract, there is the potential to combine this role openings in the hospital which would be shaped to match clinical experience as possible.

Mountbatten Hospice comprises a 24/7 community service and virtual ward, a 16 bedded inpatient unit and an integrated hospital palliative care team jointly with the islands sole district general hospital: St Marys which includes a dedicated end of life care inpatient unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated clinical pharmacist to manage our palliative care services at the Islands Hospice who have a strong culture of patient safety and service quality. Working with internal and external stakeholders whilst accountable to the Trust Chief Pharmacist.
Key responsibilities will be:
Leading, co-ordinating, delivering and developing clinical palliative care services to the Hospice.
Development of policies, procedures, guidelines, risk assessments and audits.
Promoting a culture of medicines safety to minimise harm, optimising learning from incidents and responding to safety alerts.
Supervising, training, and supporting the development of pharmacy staff and other health care professionals within the palliative care setting.
Essential criteria:
Master of Pharmacy or equivalent
Current Pharmacist registration with the GPhC
Post-graduate diploma or equivalent experience
Significant experience of working in a pharmaceutical environment
Significant clinical pharmacy knowledge and experience
Knowledge of national guidelines relating to medicines and pharmaceutical practice
