Working in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Leadership team the post holder has responsibility for the effective delivery of quality, financial and operational performance of the Division including ownership of Key Performance Targets and Measures for their services. Service specific aims, objectives and KPI's will be detailed in each post holder's personal appraisal.

About us
Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight healthcare services are evolving and transforming to meet the continuing care needs of our population. Now is a very exciting time to join Isle of Wight NHS Trust as we enter this period of change.
This year Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust have strengthened our partnership and formed a group giving us an opportunity to work together to be innovative in improving patient care and outcomes as well as improving the experience and opportunities for our people across the two organisations.
We have also been working with other local NHS Trusts across our region to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust - Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - to be formed by April 2024.
People employed in our community, mental health and learning disability services by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust on 31 March 2024, will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) on 1 April 2024.
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust will continue to deliver both acute and ambulance services for the island population.

Key Responsibilities
- The post holder is responsible for ensuring operations management of the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Division, ensuring timely provision of a first class service that meets the needs of patient and service users, meets quality requirements and the Care Quality commission 5 key themes and core standards.
- To manage a portfolio of work, leading on planning and delivery of services within the specific Care Group, working with service clinicians, visiting consultants and other clinical team members in the service and across business units, to develop and drive forward strategic and operational plans.
- To represent the Trust in all aspects of the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Division at all levels, including with the commissioners, special interest groups and patient groups, voluntary sector and across the wider Integrated Care System (ICS).
- To promote a positive profile of the Trust at external meetings and to all external stakeholders.
- To deliver the service specific targets and KPIs, ensuring that all necessary and required information is collected.
- To ensure all appropriate national audits are completed and submitted within national timescales.
- To deliver the requirements of DHCS, NHS Improvement/England and national policy and other national mandatory requirements.
- Work alongside the Divisional Director of Nursing/ & AHPs (Community Division) and the Director of Operations Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services in the development of appropriate strategy for the Mental Health Division.
- Work with Divisional Director of Nursing & AHPs (Community) and the Director of Operations Mental Health and regional peer group to support consistent development and progression of services within the Trust in keeping with the modernisation agenda and service strategic direction.
- Is responsible for designing and developing the service strategic direction and modernisation in conjunction with the Divisional Director of Nursing & AHPs (Community), the Director of Operations Mental Health and the teams throughout the Division to ensure that the services remain fit for purpose and cost effective.
- Provide general management and operational leadership and support in the Mental Health Division and elsewhere within the organisation.
- Within available resources, ensure professional standards are maintained and there is compliance with statutory rules, guidelines and legislation.
- Participation in the Senior Manager On-Call rota for the Mental Health is required.
- Ensure relationships are managed in line with the Trusts visions, values and behaviours competencies. Maximise inter-disciplinary working to achieve successful outcome.
