The successful candidate will be responsible for the specialist service of the organisation e.g. water quality, steam systems, lifts, electrical, medical gases and any other systems or structure within the remit of the hospital buildings and grounds.
You will provide management and assurance on all aspects of compliance within the Estates and Facilities Directorate in order to ensure that Patient, Staff and Visitor environments are safe, secure, and compliant with all statutory and mandatory legislation, and DH guidance.
To carry out these duties to ensure that the Estate is run in a way that optimises efficiency, effectiveness, and patient experience.
The post holder will ensure compliance with relevant legislation HSE regulations, codes of practise, technical guidance, Trust policies.
You will also develop policies for department to ensure that the Estate Department complies with all guidance.

The post holder will be required to lead on all aspects of Estates and Facilities compliance in accordance with Statutory Regulations, DH requirements in the form of guidance notes and technical memoranda, and all national specifications for facilities services.
The post holder will exchange complex information with Trust staff and contractors in a manner, so they understand the reason why we operate to the complex standard in the healthcare setting. This will include commissioning CAD drawings and specification of the standards of work required to compile with all standards.
Working closely with operational estates managers to ensure that all planned maintenance activity is fully commensurate with statutory regulations, DH guidance and any other best practice or industry standard guidance which would contribute to the delivery of a compliant operational estate function. Providing compliance reports and / or data as necessary, in relation to any relevant Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, processed through the Trust FOI lead.
Work closely with Health and Safety colleagues / managers and other Governance managers, to ensure that all other Trust requirements for clinical and non-clinical compliance are integrated into Estate and Facilities functions, and vice-versa where relevant.
The post holder will understand water microbiological results such as Legionella, Pseudomonas and other waterborne pathogens, and act as an Appointed Authorised Person (Water) to monitor water system within the Trust Property. Work with the Trust infection control Director of Infection Control (DIPC). Attend training to maintain qualifications to remain qualified as an Appointed Authorised Person (Water) for the Trust and attend the Trust Water Safety Group, acting as a lead specialist in their own field. The post holder will also be an Appointed Authorised Person for other specialities identified in the Person Specification.
Monitor the Trust lifts on site to ensure that they are compliant and in good working order and recommend replacement modifications.
Manage and control contractors on site insuring they have the correct public liability have qualification and experience to undertake the work to Building regulations, Health and Safety Law and all Healthcare standards.
Be qualified and experienced on working with sterilisers, washer disinfectors and other decontamination equipment within the HSDU and all Healthcare settings.
Collate and monitor information on compliance issues, this will mean collecting information from the departments workforce management system to ensure that all compliance work has been undertaken to conform to all statutory compliances.
Work closely with operational estates managers to ensure that all planned maintenance activity is fully commensurate with statutory regulations, DH guidance and any other best practice or industry standard guidance which would contribute to the delivery of a compliant operational estate function.
Manage, develop, co-ordinate and maintain documentation, registers and logbooks for all mechanical engineering maintenance including:

- Risk assessments and method statements
- Lifts and lifting equipment
- Pressure systems
- Decontamination systems
