Job summary

We are recruiting for a BANK General Radiographer who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great place".

The philosophy of the department is to provide a comprehensive, modern Radiology service and includes CT, MRI, plain Radiography, Ultrasound and basic interventional procedures with the best Radiographers.

Please be advised this is a bank post and no hours are guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

You will perform a wide range of diagnostic radiographic procedures as required throughout the Department, managing patient priority as appropriate. Also participate in the weekend sessions/bank holiday/out of hours Radiographic rota under supervision, to contribute effectively to the delivery of an effective and responsive Radiology Service.

Communication and Relationships

To liaise with referral sources where clarification is required for most clinically appropriate imaging.

To assess specific communication needs of individual patients.

To communicate effectively with patients prior to, during and after an examination.

To communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and relatives of patients and their escorts prior to, during and after their examinations.

To ensure that urgent findings are communicated and patients are directed accordingly.

To liaise with other departments/wards within the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians.

To effectively liaise with all disciplines of staff within the Radiology Department giving support and advice where necessary.

To communicate negotiated changes to staff rotas to Superintendent Radiographers.

To carry and respond to air-call bleep when necessary.

To review images and ensure that supplementary imaging procedures/views are considered prior to patient departure from the Department.

To undertake other duties as and when required by the demands of the service or the Head of Diagnostic Imaging.
