Main duties of the job
The Podiatry department offers an ideal place for newly qualified Podiatrists and those looking to gain more experience, to not only put into practice their newly acquired skills, but also the ability to work with and learn from some very experienced and highly skilled Podiatrists. All but one of the community clinics have at least two clinical work stations which are fully equipped and this enables staff to share ideas and to learn from each other whether they are newly qualified or have been qualified for a few years.
In addition to this the department has the following facilities;
- Separate Gait analysis clinics for Biomechanics
- Manufacturing facilities for the production of simple insoles and functional foot orthoses.
- A specialist team that carries out lower limb vascular and neurological assessment and screening program for all diabetics. Believed to be the first in the country available for all the diabetics which is led by a Podiatry department. Also specialist multidisciplinary clinics for people with diabetes with foot complications.
- Nail surgery clinics, which all podiatrists can be involved in. (We carry out over three hundred nail procedures per year).
In addition to this the Isle of Wight NHS Trust is committed to providing continued professional development (CPD) and supporting the podiatry service.
Interested? Then why not come and have a look around and meet some of the team.
