Job summary

The Apprentice Nursing Associate will work towards successful completion of the Nursing Associate training programme, leading to a Level 5 Foundation Degree equivalent qualification. They will develop and maintain the knowledge, skills and proficiencies required for the role through academic study and practical experience across a range of care settings within the Integrated Care Board.

The programme combines academic and work-based learning through collaboration between Sheffield Health and Social Care and the University of Sheffield. Post holders will be employed within a specific area but are expected to gain experience across multiple settings.

As training progresses, the Apprentice Nursing Associate will develop increasing autonomy and, where appropriate, deliver care independently in line with defined care plans and scope of practice.

Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. If you hold a visa which allows you to work in the UK, you are welcome to apply for this role however our policy requires you to have at least 12 months on your visa at commencement of your employment for training and operational reasons. This means that you need at least 15 months right to work in the UK at the point of application to enable employment checks to be undertaken.

Main duties of the job

o Support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living, providing person-centred care and promoting health and independence through awareness raising and care navigation to other professionals as appropriate.

o Perform and record clinical observations including blood pressure, temperature, respirations, pulse

o Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times

Assist in the delivery of complex care as prescribed by the Multi-disciplinary Team.

Develop understanding of caring for individuals with conditions for example dementia, mental illness, learning disabilities

Develop skills in relation to coaching/teaching individuals/carers/other staff

Assist with the implementation and monitoring of clinical standards and outcomes

Develop a working knowledge of other providers resources and referral systems to ensure individuals needs are met, within parameters of practice

Work with practice supervisors and an assessor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership, and reflective practice skills within the workplace, while on placements and through attending the Nursing Associate Training Programme

Develop by the end of the Nursing Associate Training Programme the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individuals defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing Associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed
