Main duties of the job

As OD Practitioner the post holder will hold specific responsibility as operational lead for activity across the team in the following areas:o play a central role in setting high-standard delivery standardso Provide OD advice and support to People Directorate colleagues and across SHSCo Undertake individual and team coaching and mentoring as required- lead on the provision of high-quality design, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of development activity that supports the OD Framework Objectives.

Job responsibilities

Leadership & Management Development: working with all staff groups to support the organisation wide Team SHSC: Developing as Leaders roll-out and evaluation, new and existing managers development programme, ward and deputy ward manager programme, liaising re. external programme offers across the ICS and nationally, briefings and interventions e.g. HLM360, Insights, TED and Scope for Growth. Aligning all programmes with the NHS Leadership and Management framework launching summer 2025.- Team Development: creating a set of resources for teams to use to boost their confidence, capability and wellbeing, undertake casework which includes contracting for OD support, diagnostics, delivery plans and evaluation, this includes managing the Team Engagement Development Tool (TED Tool).- Talent Development: including on-going review and improvement of the quality of improvement of supervision and PDR offers, wider talent offers such as the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme etc.- Culture: embedding of the Just and Learning culture principles, compassionate and inclusive leadership approach and coaching and mentoring offers.- Staff Engagement: using all data available for example Staff Survey and People Pulse action, People Directorate dashboards, setting an annual calendar of development to improve staff engagement etc. - Embed we are our values programme of work with teams across SHSC: bringing new SHSC values to life and our new behaviour framework.- Communicating the OD offer through engaging webpages, social media, materials, bitesize sessions and reaching out to staff who dont routinely access online.- Development sessions designing, delivering and evaluating sessions on OD topics as required.

Project management & Reporting Responsible for managing fixed term programmes of work for example delivery and embedding of new manager development programmes essential and existing managers and ward/deputy ward manager. Responsible for the effective delivery of a wide range of projects within the post remit including action logs, tracking and communication plans. Active liaising and influencing of range of partners for effective collaborative working. Forward planning ensuring efficient work planning, meeting of deadlines and making the best use of the SHSC meetings structure Providing reports and updates in multiple formats to meet needs of different audiences from People Committee reports through to one-page summaries etc.

Management/Human Resources

Responsibility for all elements of line management of junior members of the team as required e.g. performance and contribution, staff experience and engagement, wellbeing at work, workload management, attendance management, completion of mandatory training, supervision and appraisal (PDR).

Provide on-going nurturing of the knowledge, expertise and capability of junior staff. Role modelling commitment to active CPD, innovative thinking and continuous improvement. Always adhere to all relevant staff policies and keep abreast of policy/manager updates.IT skills Use the full Microsoft Office suite to full advantage, particularly MS Teams, Word, Power Point and Excel packages. Ensure the team uses the best techniques in IT and best practice to ensure high quality service provision through presentations, reporting and analysing data. Support staff engagement e.g. maintenance of our staff web pages, working with SMT to ensure content and improving our profile supporting accessibility of our offers for all staff.

Metrics & Service Development Shows active commitment to and participation in, on-going service development and improvement for all service areas. Build evaluation into all service offers for reporting purposes and to inform improvement action and impact of all OD practitioner work. Reporting through governance channels is a key part of this activity. Review all feedback and analysis evaluation to inform improvements of service delivery. Create and maintain metrics on service provision and impact. Liaise closely with Quality Improvement teams at SHSC to ensure improvement features within our performance and course development offers.General Be an active member of the People Directorate using your skills to add value to People Directorate meetings Represent the OD Team and People Directorate and organisation at relevant meetings and events. Maintain a working knowledge of relevant Trust policies and procedures, legislation and best practice.
