We have an exciting opportunity in Sheffield Talking Therapies for a Band 7 Central & Equalities Team Leader. We are looking for someone to help us achieve our aims of supporting access and outcomes for people from underrepresented communities. We currently have a particular focus on those from ethnically diverse communities, older adults (65+), students, those from the LGBTQ+ community, veterans & carers. This post allows the rare opportunity to blend your clinical skills as a registered/accredited PWP & operational skills as a manager & core member of the Talking Therapies Leadership team. You will work with the manager & therapists in the Equalities team & across the service to explore & overcome barriers patients may face, have a logistical overview of the Improving Wellbeing Courses (IWS) that we run for communities where English is not their first language, lead on the development of our services for refugees & asylum seekers, be the key link person for our student GP practices in Sheffield & support the work of our working groups to identify projects to support these various underrepresented groups.
There is the expectation to work closely with & develop links with the charity and voluntary sector. We are looking for someone with autonomy, the ability to manage their own workload, be pro-active and lead others. There will be opportunity for clinical work and managerial responsibilities through managing our PWP trainees and leading on PWP recruitment.
Main duties of the job
The Team Leader will:
Lead work and projects related to the service wide Central & Equalities strategy.
Have the operational oversight of Step 2 Talking Therapies interventions within the Talking Therapies service. In collaboration with other professional leads and the wider Talking Therapies Teams as appropriate.
To lead on step 2 recruitment including PWP trainees.
To provide operational line management to staff including PWPs and PWP trainees.
Part of the role will include providing evidence-based interventions within a stepped care model for people experiencing common mental health problems such as depression and a range of anxiety disorders. These may or may not be in conjunction with a physical health condition.
To lead on the development and introduction to the service of efficient clinical and patient booking systems, including waiting list management systems.
Offer expert clinical support and guidance to Step 2 staff conducting individual performance reviews to meet agreed objectives and to promote learning and resilience.
To be representative of the Step 2 workforce in Senior Talking Therapies meetings; and when representing the service.
To establish and maintain efficient clinical systems that support efficient clinical delivery at Step 2 to maximise use of service resources e.g., clinical booking systems.
To ensure the access standard is met through promotion, communications plan, outreach work and group uptake.

Ensure that the delivery of first line interventions is equitable and reflects the development needs of the workforce and the service; that also reflects and embraces new opportunities and service changes.
Promote signposting resources throughout the service, with special regard to what Step 2 staff can sign post to.
Work with Step 2 staff to ensure they show respect for peoples social and cultural needs and preferences; working with people from a wide range of backgrounds; working with interpreters also when appropriate.
Promote and contribute to the development of training and induction for new and existing staff.
Forming and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the Trust to share positive learning from the Talking Therapies service, promoting equality of access and high-volume suitable referrals into the service.
