Job summary
This appointment is for a full time Specialty Psychiatrist in the LearningDisabilities team (10 programmed activities) however applications from people who would prefer to work part time are welcomed. You will work with and across the Learning Disability Community Teams and the Inpatient service. The successful applicant will work closely with other Health Professionals across the Learning Disability Service as will also work closely with other Doctors across the Trust as required. The post holder is expected to have full registration and a Licence to practice with the GMC and shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which in a Psychiatric specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a Psychiatric Specialty. The post holder will have the opportunity to work towards an application for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) and will be supported with flexibility in the agreed job plan to gain specific experience and complete a portfolioas required.
The successful applicant for this post will be based at Firshill Rise in Sheffield.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties:o Provide medical leadership to the CISS (Community Intensive SupportService), and CLDT (Community Learning Disability Team) teams including regular meetings with senior clinical staff to plan/co-ordinate team workloado Attendance/leadership of MDT meetingso Attendance and participation in team governance and team development meetingso Contribution to the CPA process for patient management, including regular liaison with care co-ordinatorso Provision of medical/psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment, by regular clinic sessions and flexible use of clinical timeo Formulation and delivery of appropriate pharmacological and psychological interventionso Assessment and management of people subject to the Mental Health Acto Assessment and management of people subject to the Mental Capacity Acto Completion of administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilitieso Liaison and advice to the locality general practitionerso Liaison with other consultants and other colleagues in community services and inpatient wardso Clinical and educational supervision of junior medical staffo Teaching and MentoringThe appointee will be expected to undertake the ordinary administration duties of the post including participation in professional audit, business planning and related activities. A contribution to the management and strategic direction of the service is seen as essential.
