Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic clinical psychologist/psychotherapist/CBT psychotherapist/counselling psychotherapist to join us in the North Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). This is an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience of clinical leadership in a changing healthcare system, working as part of an experienced, supportive multidisciplinary team. You will provide senior leadership and line management to a range of psychological professions including peer support workers. You will also offer a psychological service to service users and their families and joint and indirect clinical and consultation work to the team and other services. There will also be involvement in supporting new evidence-based therapeutic treatments such a Structured Clinical Management. You will need to have had significant experience of working with serious mental illness, including psychosis, bipolar disorder and personality and complex trauma. You will possess an enthusiasm for working productively with multidisciplinary teams. The post involves carrying out highly complex psychological assessments and interventions, and leading and advising on clinical pathways for people with complex needs. The post also involves direct clinical work with service users and their families/carers providing psychological interventions for people who require highly specialised psychological care and attention.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership within the North CMHT and to work in collaboration with the leadership team to deliver effective services. Your role will be to help to develop psychological care pathways within the evolving secondary and primary care mental health transformation process. To lead on the use of best evidence and co-production to create effective, well received, trauma informed patient pathways. To take a lead on embedding new evidence-based treatment pathways such as Structured Clinical Management. Your role will also be to provide specialist assessment and interventions at the same time as offering highly specialised advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to psychologist colleagues, non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers. To provide clinical supervision for psychologists, psychotherapists / other professionals within the team and be responsible with the Service manager for the co-ordination,and performance management of the work of other psychologists/psychotherapists/peer support workers. To take sole professional responsibility and exercise autonomous professional and clinical judgement within the overall framework of Trust, HCPC, BABCP, UKCP and BPS professional policies/guidelines/standards. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
