Job summary

Sheffield Health and Social Care are excited to introduce this brand new role to support new preceptee nurses in our inpatient services to develop, learn and grow into confident registered nurses.

The practice nurse educator (PNE) is a supernumerary role that will work into our wards alongside preceptee nurses with the sole intention of supporting achievement of key requirements of preceptorship and supporting preceptees and preceptors to evidence skills and knowledge and practice.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be a skilled nurse practitioner who will work shift hours (But not be in the numbers) over 5 days a week. This will include some weekend days each month. You need to be able to get to all trust sites and you will need to be able to work into a range of teams. You will be able to build relationships with colleagues across teams and particularly relate to the Senior Nurse Practitioners and Ward Managers on the wards.

This post will sit in the Nursing Leadership Directorate and be line managed through our Preceptorship leadership team with input from Heads of Nursing.

- Record keeping requirements

- Mental health act and mental capacity act responsibilities

- Medicines management

- Taking charge of a shift, prioritisation, escalation and delegation

- Principles of MDT working
