An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our team in Adult Acute Inpatient Services.
You will be joining a vibrant and supportive team of well-established clinical psychologists, clinical associate psychologists and assistant psychologists, led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Principal Clinical Psychologist who are able to offer supervision, support and professional development.
The acute and crisis services are undergoing wide ranging developments in psychological provision to support the development of safe, therapeutic wards and you would be part of this exciting project with opportunities to be influential in the change process. The post holder will be based on our female adult acute ward at the Michael Carlisle Centre.
You will need to be suitably qualified and registered with the Health & Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist.
The post involves working with the MDT with direct and indirect work with service users and their families, supervisory and team formulation, reflective practice and post-incident support as well as providing a key role as part of the senior leadership team on the ward. Psychology roles are highly valued by the team and a positive approach to multidisciplinary teamwork is essential.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a psychological service to our service users, families, carers and staff team. This will include the provision of psychological assessments, formulation and short term interventions. You will work directly within individual, family and/or group therapy settings with service users who are presenting with highly complex and distressing psychological problems, including psychosis and complex trauma. In addition, you will contribute to the provision of a trauma-informed and least restrictive environment through supporting the staff team in their decision making and offering indirect support through team formulation, reflective practice and individual supervision. There will be opportunities for clinical supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and/or Clinical Associate Psychologists.
The post will suit a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with experience of working in mental health, preferably with supporting individuals who have experienced a period of mental health crisis or acute distress. The post would also suit someone who enjoys working creatively and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will be professionally supervised by an appropriately experienced Principal Clinical Psychologist and will have opportunity to inform and shape the evolving crisis and acute services in Sheffield.
