Job summary

We are seeking a motivated Specialist Doctor to join our Recovery Team in Sheffield.

The recovery teams have a caseload of approximately 1,000 patients each. Two thirds of patients are under active recovery, and have a care co-ordinator overseeing multidisciplinary treatment. One third of patients are managed under a caseload management system, which aims to deliver a lower level of support to a large number of people. A duty team, staffed on a rotational basis, supports patients who are in crisis and those with acute and short-term needs.

Recovery Service North, based at Northlands Health Centre, is a community health team, which provides treatment and care to adults living in the North of Sheffield, who have complex mental health needs. The patients we care for include those with psychotic disorders, severe affective disorders and personality disorders, as well as patients with co-morbid organic and/or neurodevelopmental diagnoses. We provide person-centred care that is strengths based, trauma informed, evidence-based and multidisciplinary.

Main duties of the job

  • Attendance at ward team meetings
  • Medical leadership to the multidisciplinary ward team.
  • Medical/psychiatric assessments for care planning and risk assessment
  • Formulation and delivery of appropriate pharmacological and psychological interventions to aid recovery.
  • Assessment for people detained under Mental Health Act.
  • Attendance at Tribunal hearings for people detained under Mental Health Act.
  • Completion of administrative tasks necessary for clinical responsibilities.
  • Writing of Mental Health Review Tribunal Reports or reports to other agencies.
  • Liaison with members of other teams to transfer patients into and out of inpatient service.
  • Attendance at CPA reviews and pre-discharge planning meetings.
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff
  • Teaching of undergraduate medical students
