Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced part time Speech & Language Therapist to work with complex clients with Learning Disabilities and associated needs. You will have the benefit of being part of a highly experienced Speech & Language Therapy team that operates a robust clinical supervision policy and regular clinical meetings to ensure all therapists have an opportunity to share their practice and be supported.
You will have an autonomous communication and dysphagia caseload and work as part of an MDT including Occupational Therapy, Psychology and Community Nursing. You will also work in to the Autism and Learning Disability Pathway completing Diagnostic assessment .
You will have supervisory responsibilities and be actively involved in service development.
The post offers an opportunity for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist with a genuine interest in this client group to develop their knowledge and skills and join our innovative and friendly team.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a defined caseload of community based clients with learning disabilities and complex needs using specialist Speech and Language Therapy skills and evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Working on both the Communication and Dysphagia pathways.
- To regularly supervise Speech and Language Therapy students on practice placement.
- To provide leadership and supervision for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor.
- To participate in the development and evaluation of Speech and Language Therapy and Learning Disabilities Services within a designated team.
- To participate in multi-disciplinary assessments and interventions.
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programs, in consultation with the post holder's professional and team/operational manager(s).
- To complete Diagnosis Autism assessments.

Principal duties
