Job summary
The successful applicant will be based at the Longley Centre in Sheffield. The inpatient units (Maple and Endcliffe Wards) 30 beds (mixed gender wards) and a full multidisciplinary team (medical, nursing, occupational therapy, physician associate, pharmacy, psychology, housekeeping, administrative and physiotherapy staff) providing acute inpatient care.
The post offers opportunities for experience in the development of Acute Inpatient Services in Sheffield. It reflects Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust's commitment to developing high quality services for patients with severe mental health disorders, and the commitment to excellence in the provision of acute care.
Medical workload for the service will be overseen by two senior clinicians (Dr A Puranik and Dr B Karna). The post holder will have office accommodation, with IT support for e-mail, intranet and internet and secretarial support there.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to undertake the ordinary administration duties of a Specialty Doctor post including participation in professional audit, business planning and related activities. A contribution to the management and strategic direction of the service is seen as essential. There are opportunities for professional development in medical management.
