We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our primary care mental health multidisciplinary team.

We want to:

  • Increase numbers of people accessing psychological interventions.
  • Test new integrated community models for adults and older adults with serious mental illness, including people with a 'personality disorder'
  • Increase adults and older adults' choice and control over their care, so they can thrive in their communities
  • Increase the number of people with serious mental illness receiving physical health checks.
  • Increase access to specialist mental health pharmacists for medication reviews and prescribing advice

Main duties of the job

Be an enthusiastic ambassador for tackling health inequalities. Have a passion for partnership working to ensure people with serious mental illness are supported to live well in their communities without barriers and thresholds to care and treatment.

You will work with other members of the primary care team in one of our primary care networks in partnership with physical health, mental health, and voluntary sector colleagues.

Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs using specialist Occupational Therapy skills and evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

Deliver indirect and direct input to clients, via individual and group interventions.

Supervise and support other practitioners, experts by experience, and students.

Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

We have small primary care mental health multidisciplinary teams including: Clinical Psychologists, CBT Therapists, Clinical Associate Psychologists, Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners, an Occupational Therapist, a Mental Health Pharmacist, Community Connectors, and Health Coaches, as well as an increased VCSE offer led by Sheffield Mind.

To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work.

To undertake the comprehensive OT assessment of clients using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised treatment plans.
