Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and committed consultant to join our established Recovery Team in Sheffield.
You will be required to work with the multidisciplinary teams offering a recovery and community orientated treatment model to adults with a range of mental health needs. The successful applicant will work closely with other Psychiatrists in the service and other teams.
The principle aim of the post is to provide medical leadership to the recovery team. Such medical leadership is pivotal to the success of the teams.
The post holder will be expected to offer medical support to weekly Pathways meeting (referral meeting) and MDTs, run clinics and offer support to duty team as required.
Main duties of the job
The recovery teams have a case load of approximately 1000 patients each. Two thirds of patients are under active recovery and have a care coordinator overseeing multidisciplinary treatment. One third of patients are managed under a caseload management system which aims to deliver a lower level of support to a large number of people.
New patients are allocated to consultants using a system of GP alignment, with caseloads modelled and mapped in proportion to the WTEs of Consultants in the team.
New referrals to community mental health services are received, triaged, and assessed by the Trust Single Point of Access team. Approximately 50 people per month are referred on to the Recovery teams, of whom 70% around are accepted. Each team has approximately 30 patients subject to CTO and 30 patients with MoJ restrictions and the consultant will be the RC for an equitable proportion of these patients.
Recovery Team North operates a system of 4 sub-teams, each of which is led by a Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Practitioner. Each of these sub-teams meets for a weekly multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting.
It is anticipated that Recovery teams will be supported by the introduction of a new city-wide Assertive Outreach team (AOT). This team will take suitable patients from Recovery team caseloads (as well as new referrals) and will have dedicated Consultant staff.
