Job summary

We have a rare and exciting opportunity to recruit a speech and language therapy assistant to work within a secure forensic setting under the guidance of the qualified speech and language therapists in the team. The forensic service supports individuals with mental health conditions, mild learning disability and autism in medium and low secure inpatient settings.

Main duties of the job

In this post you will have the opportunity to support the speech and language therapists working with adults with a range of needs including mental health illness/disorder, learning disability and autism. The successful candidate will work with service users directly, under the close guidance of the Speech and Language Therapist, helping in assessment and treatment, running patient groups, and preparing therapy materials. An important part of the role will be making information accessible for all patients so you will need good computer skills. In addition, the post involves administrative tasks and some joint training. The role will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team. We will provide the necessary support and regular supervision to ensure your development within the role.
