An exciting opportunity to has arisen for experienced Band 5 nurse to join the ward leadership team as charge nurses within the hospital division acute wards based at high gate mental health centre, West wing . We are looking to recruit compassionate , qualified , creative and motivated nurse to help deliver crucial care .
All applicants must have at least 1 year post registration . The successful candidate will be provided with a clear development and support plan to ensure you maximise your learning within the role and offer you exposure to ward leadership and learning opportunities . As a charge nurse of female ward, the post holder will be committed to working with trauma informed care models/approaches .
Rose quarts is currently 16-Bedded female acute ward based at high gate mental health centre , West wing . We are seeking charge nurses who have the capacity and drive to take the ward through essential change processes.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the management of ward/unit and will deputise for the Ward/Unit Manager as required. S/he will carry out allocated duties at the direction of the Ward/Unit Manager and provide clinical supervision and support to an identified staff group. S/he will regularly take charge of the ward and manage the team in the absence of the Ward Manager. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team framework in the delivery of care to patients within the intensive care setting.
S/he will act as a primary/associate nurse for a group of patients, assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating care. As a primary/associate nurse the post holder will promote person-centred care and ensure that all care plans reflect this approach. S/he will also be expected to teach and supervise others including newly qualified and unqualified staff.

- 1. RMN or equivalent with post registration experience at staff nurse level in an acute setting.
- Training in managing violence and aggression including Control and Restraint Training if appropriate to service area including evidence of attendance at updates.
- 3. Evidence of relevant ongoing professional development
Skills/Abilities
Essential
- 1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 2. Demonstrates an ability to successfully manage patients exhibiting disturbed behaviour.
- 3. Able and willing to undertake training in managing violence and aggression including Control and Restrain
- 4. Demonstrates an ability to manage and motivate staff at all levels.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
- 1. Has an understanding of the physical health needs of people with serious mental illness.
- 2. Has a detailed knowledge of the MHA, the mental capacity act, CPA and other relevant legislation such as Heal and Safety.
- 3. Demonstrates a knowledge of de-escalation skills and wo proactively to reduce the risk of violence
