Islington Core Team Psychology Lead - Principal Clinical / Counselling psychologist

We are transforming North London Mental Health Partnership Teams in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the NHS Mental Health Implementation Plan 2019/20 - 2023/24, and are looking for skilled, innovative clinical and counselling psychologists to join us. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of more integrated ways of working in mental health. The transformation of community mental health services aims to break down the barriers to care, by integrating primary and secondary care services and delivering a model that improves access to holistic approaches, for our service users.

Main duties of the job

The role will provide an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to lead the psychological provision in Islington Core Teams. The post will be part of a leadership team, made up of senior managers in the local teams as well as a consultant psychologist, to develop and operationally manage an integrated and enhanced primary care approach to clients experiencing mental health difficulties.

You will work closely with the Operational and Clinical Leads to ensure the delivery of a high quality, accessible, and inclusive psychological service. The post holder will be drawing on a range of psychological approaches to help establish psychologically and trauma informed practice within the teams and wider service area through delivering and overseeing interventions, as well as providing consultation (informal and formal), training and reflective practice when required.

There will be opportunities for service development, quality improvement, and innovative and unique practice in this post as part of the transformation. You will work alongside other psychological professions in partnership with health, social care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCS). The role is supported by senior management.
