Job summary

In carrying out this role the post holder, working with Team Managers, will make best

use of the resources available to them in the monitoring of team / service and

individual performance; ensuring that at all times best use is made of health and

social care resources. Working closely with the Head of Service they will have

responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high standards of quality care within the

service / team.

The post holder will effectively lead on governance and audit within the team /

service, ensuring that team members are supported and developed to their potential

and that new team members are comprehensively inducted and successfully

integrated into the team.

As an experienced manager the post holder will be expected to create an environment of continuous quality improvement and professional development, overseeing the development of clinical practice to ensure that delivery of care is regularly reviewed and that service improvements are implemented when necessary.

Main duties of the job

Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective management and

leadership for the clinical areas of responsibility.

To ensure that clinical standards and protocols are agreed and implemented

effectively, in line with local and national policies and targets.

Working with the Teams to negotiate and adapt care to provide solutions to complex and unusual problems.

To have detailed knowledge, understanding and experience of Mental Health

Law, including the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007), the Community

Treatment legislation, the Care Programme Approach (1995), the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and national service frameworks relevant to practice.

  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of developing, implementing and monitoring a integrated governance processes i including risk and performance management and assessing / planning care needs
  • Demonstrable and extensive experience of managing and leading others in a clinical / team setting.
