This is an exciting opportunity for a part-time Art Therapist with experience of working with people with learning disabilities to join the Psychological Therapies team at Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP).
ILDP is a forward thinking, fully integrated health and social care team whose dedicated staff and service providers were awarded the Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust Team of the Year. We are a well-resourced service, and are passionate about delivering high quality support to adults with global learning disabilities and their networks. We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatry, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, social workers and specialist support workers. We pride ourselves on our high levels of collaboration and integration across the MDT.
We are located beside Arsenal stadium and enjoy the benefits of being a single team under one roof, with many of our day provisions and residential services being a short walk away.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with the clinical service provision within the vibrant and well-established Psychological Therapies team (consisting of clinical and counselling psychologists, trainee psychologists, and honorary undergraduate psychology placement students).
The post holder will establish, manage and provide effective specialist Art Therapy interventions to clients accessing Islington Learning Disabilities Partnership (ILDP). Working as part of the Psychological Therapies Team and the multi-disciplinary team, they will develop effective individual and group interventions. They will co-ordinate with other therapists, clinical staff and managers in ILDP to ensure the service meets identified needs.
The successful candidate will also design, support and implement service development projects. The service works closely with provider organisations.
The successful candidate will be able to access the CPD programme provided by the Trust's learning and development department, including specialist psychology CPD.

- To provide Art therapy assessments of referred clients, using interview and other assessment methods as appropriate.- To formulate and devise individualised Art Therapy interventions and management plans for referred clients with a range of problems of severity and complexity, including those with behaviours of concern, and to provide treatment for such clients, using a range of Art Therapy interventions appropriate to the service and the needs of the individual client.- To provide clinical advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, to assist in the formulation, diagnosis and treatment of clients, particular those with complex or high risk presentations.- To provide reports and communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients.- To liaise with other health and social care staff, from a range of agencies, in the care provided to clients.
- To provide professional and clinical supervision of trainees and undergraduates as appropriate- To provide advice, consultation, training and supervision, where appropriate, to other health and social care staff working with the client group.
- To propose and develop procedures and policies for service provision within ILDP, taking account of policies for Trust services as a whole and the need to ensure good working practice within London Borough of Islington (LBI, i.e. the local authority).- To monitor and audit service provision, ensuring practice meets best professional and evidence-based standards.
