Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full time Telephonist/administrator to support our Community Mental Health Service.
We are looking for experienced candidates with an excellent level of Switchboard, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will also need to be computer literate with experience of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, you will be given full training in using Mitel ( Telephonist System). The role will be supporting busy reception areas and providing administrative support to senior administrators. You will have a chance to develop your administrative skills through a programme of structured appraisals, support, and development.
This is a permanent fulltime contract role and as a telephonist/administrator you will be the first point of contact for patient calling and coming into the department. Experience of working within the NHS or in a healthcare setting in a switchboard role is desirable but not essential. Excellent IT and communication skills are required along with the ability to be flexible to the changing demands of the service and the ability to work as part of a team is essential.

The role involves working a shift pattern of nights, days, weekends and Bank Holidays answering inbound internal and external calls in a responsible and courteous manner, monitoring progress and rerouting appropriately. The successful candidates will activate and operate the bleep system in a prompt and efficient manner, respond to all emergencies including major incidents, activating emergency procedures in accordance with Trust Policies & Procedures and following the departmental recording and reporting process. The post holders must have good communication and customer care skills, both written and verbal, demonstrating empathy and compassion. The ability to communicate with staff at all levels using clear and concise language, good keyboard and IT skills and the ability to work unsupervised and multitask with good organisational skills are essential
