Job summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and driven individual to join our well established corporate Patient Safety Team.

The Governance Facilitator is a crucial role in supporting services to achieve good quality governance by embedding effective incident and riskmanagement processes into practice, providing advice relating to the safety of patients, supporting clinical teams and services with qualityimprovement in quality and patient safety and ensuring robust mechanisms are in place for good practice to be shared and learning to take place proactively across teams throughout the Trust.

We are looking for an experienced clinician who can apply their knowledge and skills to the management of patient safety. The successfulcandidate will have a good understanding and practical knowledge of patient safety and risk management processes along with an innovative, quality improvement, adaptable and patient-focused approach.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to improvements in the quality and safety of services for our patients and service users, drawing on information and learning fromthe various sources in and external to the Trust.

Essential

  • Graduate and/or professional qualification or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Clinical qualification e.g. Midwifery, Nursing, Allied Health Professional.

Desirable

  • Professional training in Root Cause Analysis
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Skills/Abilities

Essential

  • Computer skills including: Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Power Point, Datix / Ulysses Good keyboard skills,
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop successful working relationships with clinicians with from all disciplines and staff at all levels
  • Ability to persuade and influence.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of managing change
  • High level of experience of handling patient safety, quality and clinical governance matters.
  • Proven experience of incident management and use of risk management systems.
  • Proven experience of report writing, presentations, group facilitation and minute taking

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Experience of clinical risk assessment.
