Job summary

Fixed Term Contract for 1 year

An opportunity exists for practitioners to join Kingston iCope in the role of trainee high intensity cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT). The post holders will work alongside a large team that includes cognitive behavioural therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychotherapists and PWPs. Working within a stepped care model, our team provides a range of NICE approved high intensity interventions for depression and anxiety disorders. This is a demanding but well supported position.

Basic Requirements for High Intensity Trainees:

Therapists will usually have an approved basic professional qualification in an appropriate profession (e.g. psychology, psychiatry, nursing). They will usually be registered with a professional, regulatory body and will have experience working in this field. Applicants who do not have a BABCP recognised core profession must enter via the KSA route following their guidelines and complete a portfolio of evidence prior to interview (see BABCP website). Therapists will have experience in working in a therapeutic role with clients. If you are currently a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, we would welcome your application if you have 2 years post qualification experience.

Please be aware that if you are less than 2 years post qualification, we cannot offer you an interview.

Therapists will demonstrate personal qualities that make them suitable for the practice of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.

Main duties of the job

Therapists will demonstrate personal qualities that make them suitable for the practice of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.

Therapists will use Cognitive and/or Behavioural Therapy in line with the available evidence base as their main, or one of their main therapeutic models

The successful applicants will be highly motivated with the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload with experience of working in IAPT services or comparable professional settings. We are committed to providing an out of hours service and so the post holder will be required to work one evening per week (12-8pm).

About us

The service value our trainees, and we offer an in-depth induction to all new staff (both remotely and in-person) and have a long track record of supporting and developing the clinical skills of trainee staff through case management supervision, line management, reflective groups and clinical skills groups. Our trainees will have the opportunity to work face-to-face, and remotely over the telephone and video. Targets for trainees are set at a manageable level and gradually increase over time, meaning our trainees are ready for qualified posts, but have had sufficient time to develop their skills and manage their workload with great support. Many of our trainees apply for qualified posts with us following completion of training.
