Job responsibilities
Location and mobility:
Your normal place of work will be at the Partnership Headquarters, St Pancras Hospital.
There will be some flexibility to work from home on occasion, and from other bases across the Partnership, but it is a requirement of this role that the post holder is based in the Partnership Headquarters at least three days per week. This is in keeping with both Trusts commitment to Agile Working and the agreed principles within it.

The single Partnership Executive Team across both Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Partnership (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I), came into place on 1 June 2022 with a new combined Partnership Headquarters Office Team, which these roles are a key part of.
The creation of a single Partnership Headquarters Office structure, supporting the new Partnership Executive Team, offers opportunities for personal and career development, as well as supporting the planned improvements in patient care and working lives of staff that have been identified through the partnership between BEH and C&I.
Role Summary Communications Officer, Digital, Marketing and Design
The role will take the lead in designing Trust publications and marketing materials, producing compelling video content and supporting increasingly important work in digital communications, with particular focus on both trusts websites and intranets. It will oversee all our social media channels and ensure that we engage fully and effectively with all our audiences.
The postholder will be a key member of the communications team, providing expert advice on internal and external communications issues, as well as promoting the Partnership and its services through effective public and media relations; responding to and managing the Partnership reputation through reactive public and media relations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to film and edit videos for internal and external use
- Responsible for the design and layout of the Partnership marketing materials, including posters and leaflets
- Responsible for the creation of branding materials, such as logos and straplines for the Partnership.
- Take responsibility for the Partnership social media strategy, including developing and delivering social media communications plans; tailoring campaigns for specific platforms and demographics and ensuing the Partnership is represented well across a range of social medias.
- Project manage the Partnership annual staff awards, this includes securing sponsorship; liaison with the venue, booking of entertainment, overseeing the nomination and shortlisting process, delivering the awards evening and managing the awards budget.
Communication & Relationship
- Provide, receive highly complex, sensitive information where cooperation, agreement required with social media interactions.
- Influence, persuade staff on appropriate communications approaches, journalists on high profile issues; make presentations on sensitive issues to staff and media under the direction of the Head of Communications.
Analytical and judgemental skills
- Under the direction of the Head of Communication, determine how to run communications campaigns, how to respond to media requests on sensitive or complex issues.
- Responsible for using Google analytics to produce regular reports and analyse social media usage and internet traffic for the Partnership using Google analytics.
- Responsible for using SEN to post across all digital and traditional channels.
- Responsible for ensuring all Partnership materials posted on the intranet, internet and social media platforms adhere to NHS branding guidelines.
- Ability to monitor and respond to social media interactions including incident and reputation management in collaboration with the Head of Communications
Planning and organising skills
- Project manage the delivery of marketing campaigns including creative concept development; project planning; print management, campaign delivery and managing the project budget.
- Responsible for the design and layout of the Annual Reports, Quality Accounts and other Trust publications, such as Trust Matters, our quarterly magazine and Byte Size, our monthly, IT in-house digital update
Physical skills
- Advanced keyboard skills for publications, presentations, processing documents.
Responsibility for patient care
- Assist patients, clients during incidental contacts and provide general, non-clinical advice to patients where required.
Responsibility for policy/service development
- Under the direction of the Senior Digital Communications Manager, develop and comment on policies
- Follow communications department procedures, protocols.
- Ensure consistent updates and good news stories are publicised across social media. channels and other media where appropriate such as local newspapers.
- Supporting the scoping, commissioning, creation and delivery of C&Is new website and intranet, with a view to replicating this for BEH at the earliest opportunity.
Responsibility for financial and physical resources
- Maintain stock control; safe use of expensive equipment/purchase of some assets, supplies.
- Order printing, publications; use of digital cameras, projectors/ purchase printing services.
Responsibility for human resources.
- You may be required to demonstrate duties to new starters and other staff
- Support the Head of Communications with recruitment activities and induction of new employees for the department.
Responsibility for information resources
- Frequent use MS Office suite of software including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint,Teams and Project, film software (such as iMovie), web, digital and social media platforms; including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Yammer to create reports, maintain systems
- Responsible for editing and managing the NHS Lothian Charity Websites (currently WordPress).
- Use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Develop media releases, publications, presentations using desk-top publishing, website software; maintain press cuttings, photo library and departmental databases.
Responsibility for research and development
- Undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work.
Freedom to act
- Responsible for the overall management and updating of content on the staff intranet and external website including structure charts.
- Ability to act on initiative, to work under pressure and to effectively manage a diverse range of projects.
- Supporting diverse internal and external awareness and marketing campaigns across existing digital channels and new ones.
