This post comprises 6PA within the Trust personality disorder service (Intensive Team within the future Long Term Plan model) combined with 2PAs Camden core team liaison (Place based/ neighbourhood team within the future Long Term Plan model)

From March 2024, the personality disorder service will be located at Lowther Road Community Mental Health unit a newly built facility located in North Islington https://www.candi.nhs.uk/about-us/plans-redevelop-our-facilities/lowther-road

Main duties of the job

  • Assist with diagnosis, medication reviews, management plans, risk assessments, crisis plans and self-help plans for patients with complex mental health problems.
  • Work with Personality Disorder service to develop a collaborative care model for patients with disorders falling within the remit of the team.
  • Provide clinical assessments of patients as necessary.
  • Provide follow up as necessary for clients within teams.
  • Support MDT in their diagnosis, management and treatment of patients through case discussions, joint consultations supervision and bespoke training.
  • Play a key role in implementing improved linkage between 'core' community and 'intensive' teams within the Long Term Plan model.

Job responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice. Must be on the specialist register or within 3 months of gaining a Certificate of Completion of Training
  • Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status (or eligibility) - qualifies to act as a Responsible Clinician
  • Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent higher qualification in psychiatry
  • Registered with Royal College of Psychiatrists CPD programme and in good standing

Desirable

  • Other relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Trained as an Educational Supervisor for doctors in training
  • Training as a Consultant mentor

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Good knowledge of and ability to use both spoken and written English

  • Expertise in a comprehensive range of evidence based interventions including structured clinical management, psychological therapies and pharmacological treatments
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding practices
  • Experience of community psychiatry and interest and experience of working with individuals with severe personality difficulties/disorders
  • Experience in work place based assessments of doctors in training
