A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Complex Depression Anxiety and Trauma Service CDAT for a Band 6 Clinical Specialist.
Working as a member of the Community Division service line based within the CDAT - Community Team you will be responsible for providing individual assessment, identified clinical interventions and direct care to service users with complex needs and associated difficulties. You will be responsible for a defined caseload and will formulate appropriate specific, highly specialist care and treatment plans; providing skilled and specialist interventions and care to service users with complex mental health problems.
As a registered Social Worker, OT or Nurse . the post holder will be responsible for working in a way that promotes levels of excellence in the team and operates to the requirements of the service operational policy and strategy, and that safe, evidence based, effective, culturally competent care is delivered in a timely manner to service users.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for a caseload of service users. They will undertake assessment and review of new referrals. They will also engage with service users in delivering short term interventions and offer longer term, goal centred interventions through formulating appropriate, specialist care and treatment plans.
They will develop professional relationships with other key stakeholders in the service users' network (i.e Primary Care, Core Teams, Inpatient and Crisis services, Housing, Carers, Employment, Education etc) and interface with these to support the service user, as well as planning for step down.
The post holder will also have a sound working knowledge and experience of the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005) and Mental Health Act (2007). They will be required to undertake Care Act assessments for those requiring care packages and presenting cases to panel for funding as required. They will be experienced with raising Safeguarding Section 42.1 concerns, as well as conducting Section 42.2 enquiries.
The post holder may also take up the opportunity for facilitating students and traineesin a Practice Assessor/Educator or supervisor role.
About us
The CDAT service is a well-established, diverse and experienced Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) comprising of Nurses, Social Workers, OTs, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Administrators, Managers, trainees and students.
The service has four pathways (Community MDT, Medical, Psychology and Social Care), which may overlap and offer intensive treatment, intervention and support for individuals with complex mood disorders such as depression, anxiety and PTSD. These four pathways work alongside side each other with a great deal of peer support and shared learning.
This post is part of the Community MDT pathway and would suit an experienced mental health nurse, OT or social worker who is looking for a challenging yet rewarding role.
You will be offered an induction period as well as regular supervision and appraisal, as well as the opportunity to join the Reflective Practice sessions on a monthly basis. There is also 'in-house' informal training and learning sessions on a regular basis, specifically related to support individuals with their work in the service, which are largely facilitated by team members and provides an opportunity to share specific skills and knowledge with the wider team.
The team has been described as warm and welcoming with a 'friendly atmosphere, with an 'open door' culture where team members are encouraged to discuss and reflect with managers or senior members of the team.

The purpose of the care plan is to encourage agency, control and independence to enable the service user to lead the life that they want whilst being aware of and managing risk. These may include:
- Help with practical social issues including support and signposting for housing issues, advice and support with benefits, support to access legal services (i.e. for immigration, housing or family law); liaison with childrens services; referral to community activities for social inclusion.
- Stabilisation, often in partnership with CDAT psychology PTSD symptom management, anxiety management, behavioural activation, psycho-education, exposure response prevention.
- Risk management including safeguarding, relapse prevention planning, crisis planning and managing admissions to hospital.
- Social care needs and possible Care Act assessment / responsibilities (including Carers Assessments) Supported Housing referrals, packages of care (for carers, support workers, community groups and activities, college courses) and carers direct payments.
- Helping Service Users to access physical health care. Working in partnership with relevant services where service users have physical and mental health needs.
- Medication administration (depot injections) and monitoring.
- Signposting to other agencies and help to access these. Working in partnership with voluntary sector agencies.
