Band 8a Highly Specialist Family Therapist (0.6 WTE)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a systemic family therapist with excellent practitioner skills and demonstrated expertise and knowledge of working with people experiencing psychosis, bipolar problems and associated difficulties to join our psychology service.
The post-holder will provide a family therapy service to the Trust psychosis service across the boroughs of Camden and Islington. This will involve taking referrals from multidisciplinary mental health teams that provides social care, psychiatric and psychological services to a wide range of service users living in the community.
The post requires UKCP registration.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will offer a Systemic Family Therapy service to teams across the psychosis service, including Early Intervention Teams, Recovery Teams and a small number of ward-based Rehabilitation Teams. They will provide family assessments and interventions and will offer advice and consultation on family work to referrers and staff. They will also provide supervision on family work (including live supervision where appropriate) to members of multidisciplinary teams and other professionals. The post-holder will contribute to training in family work for Trust staff and will be involved in policy and service development relevant to family work within the service.
You would be working within a supportive psychology team and alongside another part-time systemic family therapist. There would be opportunities to contribute to the wider Trust Systemic Family Therapy training programme which is open to all professions. We also welcome and encourage trainee placements and there is currently a trainee family therapist on placement with us.
Alongside systemic family therapy our service also uses behavioural Family Intervention in Psychosis (FI-p) approaches. The successful applicant will work alongside these approaches and advise on which approach is more appropriate as needed. Training is available in one of these FI-p approaches to supplement your skills if required.

- Professional qualification in social work, psychiatry, clinical or counselling psychology, nursing (mental health nursing and other nursing specialities which require a counselling role), occupational therapy, speech / language therapy or counselling, that meet AFT Training in Family Therapy Entry Requirements. Further AFT-accredited qualification in family therapy / systemic psychotherapy, or an equivalent meeting the UKCP criteria for 'grandparent' and 'APEL' qualification as systemic psychotherapist. Current membership / registration with UKCP as systemic family therapist / psychotherapist.
Desirable
