Job summary

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Peer Worker/Coach to join our Team. This role will help to ensure an accessible/responsive services . The Team is a leader in bringing a genuinely recovery oriented service within Primary Care that challenges the inequalities that many experience when trying to get their health needs addressed.

The Senior Peer Coaching role will be responsible for the supervision and support of a team of Peer Coaches. They will play a leadership role in coordinating the team's efforts and developing improvements to the function of the team. They will provide support and direct input around assessments of new clients and their placement with Peer Coaches of the team.

Main duties of the job

Senior Peer Working/Coaching opportunity (Fixed Term Contract)

A 1 year full time post is available in Islington and will be working with the award winning Choice and Control Peer Coaching Programme who serve people with a combination of physical and mental health issues . A full time commitment is preferred however part time (4 days a week) will be considered with the right candidate.

There is a high likelihood of the post being extended beyond the year.

We are looking for a Senior Peer Coach with:-

  • Experience of providing supervision and support to other peer workers
  • Communication skills that suit a coaching approach and liaison with a range of people
  • Substantial experience of providing formal support to others who are experiencing complex mental health problems
  • Experience of carrying out holistic and person centred assessments
  • Risk assessment and management experience and skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • An awareness of local services and supports
  • Group skills
  • A demonstrable commitment to Peer Working values

About us

The award winning Choice and Control Peer Coaching Team will be working in a more integrated way with Islington Council Social Services in the coming year so an ability to work within a changing environment to create quality services is key.
