Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist. Camden Primary Care Mental Health Team

This is a new and exciting opportunity to work in Camden Primary Care Mental Health Team. The post holder will gain broad experience across primary care and secondary care settings, so ideal for those soon to be or recently qualified.

The primary care mental health team aims to break down the barriers to care, integrating primary and secondary care services to deliver a model that improves access to holistic care for all.

You would be working with adults 18 and upwards to provide a whole system, integrated and enhanced primary care approach to clients experiencing mental health difficulties. There is an emphasis on multi-agency collaboration as well as co-production opportunities and you will have the opportunity to shape the psychology delivery in creative ways to meet the needs of the local population.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported to ensure the delivery of a high quality, accessible, and inclusive psychological service drawing on a range of psychological approaches to help establish a psychologically informed and trauma informed practice within the team and wider service area through brief individual work, group work, consultation (informal and formal), training and reflective practice.

We are a Trauma Informed Organisation and try to embed anti-discriminatory practice into our work. Camden and Islington psychologist are committed to Continuing Professional Development and we have an excellent inhouse programme of CPD including courses in CBT, EMDR, Psychodynamic and Systemic Approaches.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or counselling psychology.
  • Postgraduate doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society or the British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence.
  • Current registration with the Health Professions Council as a clinical or counselling psychologist

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including community, primary care, outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of clients groups, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision

Desirable

  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Post registration experience of working in a Primary Care Setting

Skills

Essential

  • Skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment (including psychometric tests) intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health, including challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to offer a multi-theoretical formulation in clear and concise manner

  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
