The Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training (PICT) service within Camden and Islington Foundation Trust, in partnership with Islington Council's Children and Families Service, are seeking to recruit an energetic, self-motivated, and lateral-thinking adult mental health practitioner with the drive and determination to work in an innovative team.
The Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training (PICT) service provides a workforce development intervention, with the aim of supporting staff to work more effectively with adults with complex mental health problems including personality disorder (not necessarily diagnosed). The post holder will join our Parental Mental Health service within Islington's Children and Families social work teams. The wider PICT team is made up of multi-disciplinary mental health professionals providing a PICT approach to other services across the borough of Camden.
Main duties of the job
To provide a (PICT) service to professionals within Islington Council's Children and Families Services, supporting them to work more effectively with adults in families who present with complex mental health problems. We work with partner organisations like CAMHS to provide support to staff teams. Working as part of the PICT Parental Mental Health team, the post holder will be supporting family support/intervention practitioners and/or social workers through:
- Staff individual and group case consultation to support the understanding and identification of mental health and wellbeing needs of adults in families. The approach used requires formulation as well as understanding local service provision, to support access to appropriate interventions.
- Effective liaison and navigation between different services in the care pathway and, where appropriate, supporting access to appropriate interventions.
- Training to staff to help improve understanding and confidence in working with clients with complex needs.
- Direct working with service users jointly with the staff member who keeps case-holding responsibility (this is a much smaller proportion of PICT work).
- Reflective Practice to front line staff.
There may be the possibility of some direct interventions with service users linked to Community Transformation work which is currently under development.
