Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust

This job is now closed

Job summary

The post offered is that of Locum Consultant Psychiatrist working 10 PAs in the Early Intervention Service (EIS) for Psychosis in Camden.

The EIS is part of the care pathway for patients in care cluster 10, i.e. patients with a first episode of psychotic illnesses. The care pathway applies the recovery model of care and it delivers evidence based treatments. The postholder will primarily take responsibility for patients living in Camden alongside the other Camden EIS consultant. The EIS is based at 4 Greenland Road, London, NW1 0AX.

Main duties of the job

This is a new locum consultant post which has been created to increase the senior medical leadership to the Camden EIS Team with the specific aim of providing a more effective step down pathway for patients who have come to the end of their three years with the EIS team. We have found that there has been a build up of patients who are ready to be discharged to other teams in the trust (such as the Camden Rehabilitation and Recovery Teams) but that due to issues of capacity the flow of these referrals has slowed down. The aim of the current project is to increase medical and support worker capacity to provide a transitional service for patients leaving EIS. The appointed locum consultant will manage this caseload of approximately 100 community patients alongside key workers from Look Ahead and support patients to move on to longer term support either in primary care or in R&R Teams. The postholder will be supported by the substantive consultants in Camden EIS and South Camden R&R Team.
