Clinical or Counselling Psychologists (Band 7) - Recovery and Rehabilitation Division
A 1.0 WTE post has become available for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist in the Trust's Recovery and Rehabilitation Division, which provides services for people with psychosis or bipolar disorders and associated problems. The post is based in Camden Early Intervention Service (working 4 days per week) and Camden Assertive Outreach Service (working 1 day per week).
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to join the C&I Early Intervention Service (EIS), which is in the process of an exciting expansion. Our ambition is to be a Gold Standard Service, faithful to the EIP model, capable of having a real impact on relapse rates, inpatient admissions and service user recovery in terms of social inclusion, maximising strengths and potential. We would like to invite the most energetic, motivated and competent practitioners to join us in moving further towards this goal.
Previous experience of working with people with psychosis and enthusiasm for creative working with this group are essential for the position. The post requires Health and Care Professions Council registration as a Clinical or Counselling psychologist.

Candidates coming towards the end of their clinical or counselling psychology training may apply and commence in post after qualification and registration with the HCPC. If there is significant delay in obtaining qualification from a training course as a result of requirements to make major thesis corrections, then initial appointment at Band 6 as a trainee psychologist, with progression to Band 7 on qualification and HCPC registration, will be considered.

- Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of adult service users with psychotic disorders and their comorbidities in a secondary mental health setting, ideally within the community
- Experience of working with a wide variety of service users, across the whole life course and presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity evident in populations with psychosis
Desirable
- Experience of teaching, training and offering effective consultation and supervision services
- Experience of the application of clinical or counselling psychology in different cultural contexts
Skills
Essential
- Skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment (including psychometric tests), intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health, particularly with regards psychosis and its comorbidities
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with service users, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups

- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of psychological therapies, with demonstrated competence in the delivery of effective, evidence-based psychological interventions (in particular CBT for psychosis and family interventions in psychosis) with adults with psychotic disorders
