We are seeing a keen and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit - 10 PAs.
Clover ward is a 10 bedded mixed sex ward, based at Lynfield Mount Hospital, with gender specific male and female areas, a de-escalation area and a Seclusion room.
Main duties of the job
This post is based on clover ward at Lynfield Mount Site. The successful candidate will work with the Consultant Psychiatrist as a senior member of the medical team overseeing the day to day mental and physical care of inpatients on a particular ward.The successful candidate will attend ward rounds, conduct reviews and create management plans for patients on Clover ward. They will chair ward rounds and make decisions about patient care in the absenceof the consultant, seeking advice from the covering consultant where appropriate. They will supervise junior medical staff (trainees) within the inpatient setting when the consultant is absent.The post holder will be involved in Mental Health Act (MHA) related work including the preparation of reports and attendance as the medical representative at the First Tier Mental Health Review Tribunal andManagers' hearings. They will undertake MHA assessments within the unit as required. There is scope for around 1-2 tribunal/ managers reports required per week. There is scope for a similar number of hearingsper week. The successful candidate would support the Consultant in completing the reports and attending the hearings.
