Job summary

To support the Medication Safety Officer (MSO) in investigating medicines incidents, reviewing investigations, disseminating alerts, preparing reports, and sharing lessons learnt.To support all aspects of the medicine's safety agenda across Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.To ensure consistent review and updating of medication errors.To act as an advisory on medicines safety.To support the MSO in disseminating lessons learnt from incident investigations, to identify medicines safety issues from national guidance and embed into clinical practice.To assist in preparation for the Medicines Management and Safety Group.To analyse data, providing interpretation and reports as appropriate to a wide variety of staff groups.To provide training on medicines safety to a wide variety of staff groups

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:oTo liaise with services to ensure medication errors are reported and investigated appropriately.oTo disseminate medication alerts and coordinate response.o To train staff in incident reporting and investigation.oTo ensure that medicines management practices within MDT and services comply with legal, national, and local guidelines.oTo ensure that drug therapy is evidence-based, safe, cost-effective, and appropriate to the individual patient.oTo support the Trust with the implementation of the patient safety incident response framework for responding to patient safety incidents for the purpose of learning and improving patient safety.

  • Holds professional clinical registration as Nurse / Pharmacist / Pharmacy Technician
  • Leadership, management, and quality improvement experience and/ or qualification.

Desirable

  • Post graduate clinical qualification

  • Awareness of performance measures (specifically with reference to Clinical Governance and Healthcare Standards)
