Job summary

We are recruiting a Band 5 Psychological Therapist (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) to join our team.

The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload within their specialty area as an autonomous practitioner, ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

In doing so, they will:

  • Develop psychological formulations for individual patients that contribute towards the overall assessment of their care needs

  • Collaboratively establish individual patient's goals towards recovery.

  • Determine suitability of specific psychological interventions, including group and individual modalities, based on the patient's assessment/formulation
  • Plan, deliver and review individual and group psychological interventions for specific patients.

The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance always ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Work without direct supervision and in partnership with other psychological clinicians to deliver evidence-based therapy to individual and groups of patients.

Manage a designated caseload of patients with responsibility for their assessment (including clinical risk), implementation and evaluation of therapy.

Supervise and support Assistant Psychological Therapists and other health care professionals where required.

Proactively contribute to the achievement of positive clinical outcomes. This will include conducting evaluations using clinical outcome measures and satisfaction surveys.

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives/carers, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds in a manner that is sensitive, open, welcoming and person-centred.

Act as a mentor to students, support newly qualified staff and be responsible for implementing the appraisal process.

Use IT systems effectively.

Maintain accurate, up to date clinical records in accordance with Trust policy.

Provide clinical leadership to the Assistant Psychological Therapists.

Delegate tasks to staff within their competency and ensure that the delegation/escalation process forms part of the culture of the service.
