Specialist Mother and Baby Mental Health Service (SMABS) is a community perinatal mental health service commissioned with the Bradford District Care Foundation Trust (BDCFT). We cover the catchment area of Bradford, Airedale and Craven there are approximately 8,000 live births per year. The main maternity hospital sites being Bradford (6,000 births) and Airedale (2,000 births).
We are currently looking to recruit experienced and highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health professionals/practitioners to join our team with a specialist interest in improving care for women and their families in the area. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable; a keen interest in this specialist area is essential.
Main duties of the job
To be part of SMABS team and provide specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions to women experiencing perinatal mental health ill health across Bradford & Airedale & Craven, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
Assess the impact of a parent's mental ill-health on baby and older siblings within the individual household, notifying relevant agencies of concerns if appropriate.
To work in a sensitive and attuned way with women, infants, partners and wider families that enable containment during highly emotive transition period in parental lives; to delicately balance the needs and wellbeing of the women whilst simultaneously ensuring infant health, wellbeing and safety is paramount and centred in all care delivery.
To create robust risk management plans in line with the organisational and local policy/guidelines and CPA framework
The Perinatal community mental health clinician/care co-ordinator will attend, participate and in some cases lead clinical/patient related meetings such as professionals meetings, CPA, and MDT
To support the supervision of the MDT.
To support the consultation, advice and training relating to peri natal mental health
Provide clinical consultation and advice to professionals & stakeholders as clinically indicated.
To contribute to the Service's on-going development and service delivery.
