Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to join our growing team here at MyWellbeing IAPT Service.

Successful candidates will begin studying towards the Postgraduate Certificate 'Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners' course at University of Sheffield in October 2023. This course provides the formal training required to qualify as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) and is designed to train PWPs to deliver competent assessment and treatment (Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/Guided Self-Help) at step 2 of the IAPT stepped care model.

Successful candidates will study while working within the MyWellbeing IAPT Service, gaining invaluable clinical experience, whilst working with clients throughout their training year. They will also receive regular supervision in order to develop their clinical skills.

These vacancies are across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

For successful candidates who are current BDCFT employees, this post will be 12-month secondment, whilst training.

For successful external candidates, this will be a 12-month fixed term contract.

It is a requirement that you pass the 'Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners - Postgraduate Certificate' course to apply for a permanent qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Band 5) position at the end of your 12-month training.

Main duties of the job

Assessments and Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/Guided Self-Help interventions are a highly valued and fundamental part of what we provide at MyWellbeing IAPT Service. Our PWP's provide evidence-based assessment and treatment for people with anxiety disorders or depression, including face-to-face, remote (video/telephone), group and computerised cognitive behavioural therapy (cCBT) sessions.

Job Purpose:
  • Develop psychological formulations for individual patients that contribute towards the overall assessment of their care needs.
  • Collaboratively establish individual patient's goals towards recovery.
  • Determine suitability of specific psychological interventions, including group and individual modalities, based on the patient's assessment/formulation.
  • Plan, deliver and review individual and group psychological interventions for specific patients.
  • Undertake the 12month University course on Low Intensity CBT
