Job summary

The West Yorkshire Mental Health and Wellbeing hub is excited to offer an experienced clinical psychologist or psychological therapist an opportunity to co-ordinate and lead our psychological assessment and therapy service for staff working in all parts of health and social care across the ICS. The service is hosted by BDCFT and will be professionally and operationally supported by the Trust's Head of Psychological Therapies. They will make and active contribution to and work as part of the clinical leadership of the mental health and wellbeing hub working closely with other clinical leads and project managers to ensure that all staff are supported to be as healthy and happy as possible, despite the considerable impact of the Covid 19 pandemic.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic lead for the therapy service who is passionate about improving staff mental wellbeing and inclusivity. The therapy arm is part of the wider regional hub offer which contributes to the delivery of the West Yorkshire ICS People Plan and the aspiration that Looking After Our People is one of the highest priorities of the partnership.

Main duties of the job

This position is offered as a 1.0 wte post/secondment for a period of 12 months from commencement date to work as an integral part of the West Yorkshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Staff Hub and to provide clinical oversight and every day operational leadership to the hub therapy service. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and take responsibility for the governance of the psychological therapy service including undertaking certain operational tasks, e.g. recruitment/retention and line management of the workforce and their appraisal.

Specifically they will:

  • Work closely with HR to ensure effective recruitment and onboarding of therapists onto the staff bank
  • To triage all referrals and facilitate appropriate support offer as required
  • Supporting the interface/ongoing relationship with the regional staff support service and ensuring this continues to operate for the coming year or as long as is deemed appropriate.
  • Day to day operational delivery and governance of therapy practice delivered by the hub support & therapy service.
  • Advising on required staffing levels and tasks on a week by week basis.
  • Service evaluation and reporting into the West Yorkshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub.
  • Adapting and developing this vision for the service as needed.
  • To be an integral member of the staff wellbeing hub and contribute towards its overall development and delivery.

About us

The West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing hub was launched in January 2020 to support staff mental wellbeing across our ICS partnership through a variety of initiatives some of which are just commencing. The therapy arm for the hub is currently hosted at Bradford District Care Trust and through a referral process any staff working in health and care providers including VCSE partners can access evidence based mental health services and support when needed particularly if that support isn't available in their own organisation. The regional therapy arm aligns with BDCFT's own organisation's staff therapy offer and there is an expectation that this role will work closely with the lead for that service as well as leads for other therapy services across our partner organisations. This will ensure that the emerging model of support doesn't detract from investment in staff mental wellbeing across the system and strives to build both capacity and resilience by connecting services where it makes sense. The hub offer is confidential and free for all.

The Governments' proposal to mandate Covid 19 vaccines for all health care workers is currently under review. Until there is a formal directive in place regarding mandatory vaccines as a condition of your employment, Bradford District Care Trust does not require you to be fully vaccinated as part of your employment conditions. Please be reminded that this decision may be changed dependent on the directive from the Government once the consultation has concluded.

The Covid vaccination remains the best line of defence against Covid to protect individuals, colleagues, patients, and communities and the Trust encourages staff to take up the offer of being fully vaccinated. Please note all staff members who are working in healthcare premises, working with patients/service users and/or undertaking patient/service user visits will be required to take a twice weekly LAMP test, and to produce evidence of their negative test result on request.

If you have any concerns about whether this affects your eligibility to undertake a role with the Trust, you may wish to contact the recruiting manager to discuss this further. Please note that if you are successful, the pre-employment health check will require details of vaccination status where appropriate, and will be retained as part of your employment health record.
