An exciting opportunity has arisen for a finance apprentice to join the Financial Management team at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will provide technical and financial accounting support within the department, working closely with all members of the team, staff across the organisation and external stakeholders.
We will fund your training towards an accountancy qualification. You will be given protected study time to complete the course. At the end of your apprenticeship we would expect successful candidates to secure a suitable position within the trust or the wider NHS Finance.

Main duties of the job
The Finance Officer will work under the supervision of the Finance Manager and Assistant Finance Managers (Finance Support Team Lead) to provide a comprehensive range of services across all areas within finance.
The post holder will be one of a team of Finance Officers who will haveprimary responsibility for assisting in the delivery of high quality financialmanagement, financial accounting and costing and contracting support to the wider finance team, other operational managers, external customers and suppliers.
Tasks and queries will be allocated by the Finance Manager and the postholder will be expected to observe agreed service standards and workeffectively to ensure that agreed deadlines are achieved.

Main duties:The post holder will be allocated work and tasks which cover the whole of the finance function. The Finance Manager will be responsible for agreeing work priorities and co-ordinating work within the team but the post holder will be expected to work flexibly and enthusiastically to complete a broad and variable range of tasks. These will include;
- Assisting in the production of accurate and timely monthly financialmonitoring information
- Undertaking transactional analysis to support the investigation of income and expenditure variances against budgets.
- Assisting with the provision of relevant information for forecasting,business cases, costing information for continuous budget review, annual budget setting and other service developments.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial reporting.
- To prepare and accurately input all types of journals including budgetadjustments to the general ledger.
- To liaise with finance and non-finance staff in the investigation andresolution of queries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for processing sales orders, payment requests, set up and amendment of sales items, receivable activities and salespersons on Oracle Financials.
- To prepare monthly reconciliations of expenditure relating to bank and agency staffing
- To prepare and upload accrual and actual journals for bank and agency staffing costs
- To prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet control accounts and investigate and resolve any outstanding balances
- Assist in the transactions analysis to support monthly capital reporting
- To run monthly Business Intelligence reports
- To analyse prepayments and prepare and upload journals as required
- To act as or provide cover for the Trusts cashier which will include the payment of petty cash, the reimbursement of sub floats, the recording of income and the banking of income.
- To collate daily bank balances from the Trusts on line systems to inform cash management processes
- To maintain the commercial bank account cashbook
- To undertake monthly pay analysis to inform detailed pay forecasting
- To reconcile suspense accounts including payroll
- To analyse monthly payroll deductions and action payments to the relevant organisations.
- To process online bank payments
- To analyse and code the monthly Non PO accrual file and prepare and upload the necessary journals
- Respond to budget holder, supplier and other customer related queries in an efficient, timely and professional manner

- The Finance Officer, will ensure that Trust resources are used in an effective manner. This will include being responsible for a petty cash float, handling cash and cheques and raising payments and sales orders on Oracle Financials.
- The post holder will work within and promote agreed financial strategies and policies, and will support others in doing so.
