A fantastic op-portunity has arisen for a for a full-time Activity co-ordinator to join our well-established team at Lynfield Mount Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The vacancy is based on Maplebeck ward, an acute psychiatric ward, caring for males aged 18-65 who are experiencing acute mental illness.As an activity co-ordinator you will work within the occupational therapy team to assist in the delivery of meaningful activity on the ward and within the local community, and support recovery and transition from hospital to home. You will work collaboratively with the wider MDT both on the ward and in the community. In addition, you will be involved in the service development at the unit.The role will include some evening and weekend working comprising of 7.5 hour shifts with relevant pay enhancements as applicable. We are seeking an innovative individual, able to work collaboratively with service users and staff, and integrate well into the multidisciplinary team on the ward

Under the direction of Senior and Clinical Practitioners, carry out therapeutic and meaning-ful activities, which include both individual and group work. Takes leadership from Clinical and Senior Occupational Therapists within a delegation framework for agreed tasks. Ensure high standards are maintained in a safe environment, which promotes equality and sensitivity for all individuals. Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all pa-tients, family, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values. To identify and gather appropriate resources to support and facilitate therapeutic activity on the acute ward. To demonstrate responsible management of therapeutic resources. To ensure that patients are informed about activities and opportunities available to them on the wards, and to keep the activity timetable up to date. To make positive and recovery focussed contributions to the therapeutic environment of the acute wards and wider hospital.

The Covid-19 vaccination remains the best line of defence against Covid-19 to protect individuals, colleagues, patients, and communities, and the Trust encourages staff to take up the offer of being fully vaccinated. Please note all staff members who are working in healthcare premises, working with patients/service users and/or undertaking patient/service user visits will be required to take a twice weekly Lateral Flow Test, and to produce evidence of their negative test result on request.
