Clinical Psychologist / Psychological Therapist (Fixed Term for 24 Months)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a practitioner to join and be involved in the ongoing development and provision of a specialist early childhood CAMHS team.
The Specialist Early Attachment and Development (SEADs 0-6 years) team is a multi-disciplinary CAMHS team covering the Bradford District. We are a small yet growing team comprised of clinical psychology, specialist occupational therapy and child psychotherapy. We have a depth of experience in working with children and families during the earliest years of life. We work with families where there are significant concerns around the family psychology, child development, attachment relationships and attachment trauma and maltreatment. We offer consultation, thorough assessment, and a range of therapeutic interventions (including Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP); BUSS Building under developed sensorimotor Systems, Video Interaction Guidance (VIG); Theraplay; Reflective Parenting & Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy).
This post is funded by the Reducing Inequalities in City programme (RiC). The post holder will be part of a fundamental and meaningful development, enhancing the capacity of the SEAD team across Bradford City and compassionately engaging the families who need our support.The funding for the post is available for 24 months and will be supported going forward by robust monitoring of outcomes and service evaluation.
Main duties of the job
The post would suit a practitioner who is passionate about working with children in their earliest years. The role would also suit a practitioner who is knowledgeable in the psychology of child development and playful, reflective, and flexible in their approach. An understanding and working knowledge of child and family psychology, attachment trauma and maltreatment would be valuable in addition to a passion for working closely in our neighbourhoods and communities.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary Specialist CAMHS Early Childhood team, to provide specialist direct and indirect psychological assessment and intervention for children up to (and including) the age of 6 years old, and their parents/carers across Bradford City.
To make autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
To support psychological assessment and therapy provided by SEAD practitioners, and when appropriate, to supervise practice, including providing support and supervision to CAMHS assistants and trainees.

Work with autonomous professional judgement, together with other SEAD team practitioners, to deliver evidence-based interventions to children and their families/carers reflecting their needs.
To assess, formulate, deliver, and review evidence-based practice as a clinical psychologist / psychological therapist
Manage a designated caseload of patients with responsibility for their assessment (including clinical risk), implementation and evaluation of psychological assessment and intervention.
Supervise and support colleagues in the SEAD team CAMHS, and other agencies when appropriate.
Provide clinical leadership to psychological therapists and other CAMHS colleagues as required.
Proactively contribute to the achievement of positive clinical outcomes. This will include conducting evaluations using clinical outcome measures and satisfaction surveys.
Use IT systems effectively
Maintain accurate, up to date clinical records in accordance with Trust policy.
Support the Team Manager with operational duties, including appraisal, caseload management and providing cover in the absence of the Team Manager.
Delegate tasks to staff within their competency and ensure that the delegation/escalation process forms part of the culture of the service
Effectively communicate with other disciplines/agencies/young people and carers.
Provide support and leadership to other psychological therapists and colleagues in partner-agencies.
Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues to ensure professional standards are met.
Encourage participation in the appraisal process.
Contribute to the appraisal process of psychology assistants / psychological therapists as required.
Teach psychological interventions to others, including colleagues and trainees.
Initiate and conduct clinical evaluation projects.
Contribute to clinical research programmes
Participate in regular management and clinical supervision.
Seek advice and support from Team Manager and senior colleagues as and when required
Participate in appraisal annually, developing and agreeing your development plan with your line manager using the Trust appraisal and KSF process.
Responsible for identifying areas for own professional development.
Keep up to date with latest clinical developments and research evidence relating to children and young people looked after and adopted.
